"Your body is a reflection of the choices that you consistently make." - Tom Ford
Over the years I've achieved fantastic results with my training, I've also made some spectacular mistakes. Yep, some next level douchery - but there is no shame in getting things wrong.
These mistakes have enabled me to grow as both a coach and as an athlete, and one of the greatest lessons that I've learned over the past 23 years training is this,
"Do the basics consistently."
Simple right? It's so simple, and it works, but its not sexy and often not as cool as the next big thing, or something that the latest hot celebrity is doing, or your training buddy who's looking kind of swole recently.
But ask yourself this,"If my body is a reflection of the choices that I consistently make, are my choices pulling me closer or pushing me further away from what I want?"
In your training you want to build a solid foundation so that you can transistion to more advanced forms of workouts without ending up broken or your performance suddenly deteriorating.
Always take time to evaluate your training and what you are doing, and whether its lifting, strongman, crossfit, running, martial arts or some other endeavour I can bet you this,
When you do the basics - the funadamentals - on a consistent basis you are going to get the kind of results that make it all worthwhile.
