In my 20 years experience as a coach, I have witnessed what I call the 9 big mistakes. I've listed them below for you to see for yourself. These observations and the pursuit of better health, wellbeing and performance gave birth to what I now call The WPU Method, and The 5 Pillars of Strength.
These mistakes have stalled the progress of not only fitness enthusiasts, or successful business people, but also advanced athletes, and it wasn't until they crashed and burned did they truly understand my statement.
Each of the five pillars are interconnected, and when you have the right mix, then you thrive. When one or more of the pillars are off kilter then there is a strong chance you are heading for a collapse. So what are the 9 big mistakes
Training too hard too often (More is better, "go hard or go home" mentality)
Not getting enough sleep (and wearing it as some sort of badge!)
Following fad diets and not getting a customised nutrition program for their own unique biochemistry.
Failing to understand how stress not only impacts health but also your performance.
Not recognising the significance of recovery, and how to effectively track it.
Overestimating what you can achieve in 12 weeks and underestimating what you can achieve in a year.
Failing to recognise how awesome your body is and all the wonderful things it does for you on a daily basis.
Not realising the importance of having a support network around you, that encourages your healthy lifestyle choices (especially on the hard days).
Assuming that Mind Set is simply about will power, and not appreciating the full spectrum of tools and training possible.
The WPU Method is functional 360 approach to health and performance.
